Tonight I watched Marlon Brando voted the greatest actor ever amongst his peers on channel 4. The final top 5 was as follows:
1. Marlon Brando.
2. Johnny Depp.
3. Anthony Hopkins.
4. Laurence Olivier.
5. Al Pacino/ Robert De Niro.
However Anthony Hopkins above Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, I don't think so.

Are Al Pacino and Robert de Niro joint 5 because I'm not the only one who can't remember which is who? I think Robert de Niro is a great actor, but I usually hate the films he's in. Whereas Anthony Hopkins is always Anthony Hopkins, but I love the films. Laurence Olivier was great in his time, but don't you think his acting style has dated? Me, I prefer Kenneth Brannagh any day.
Johnny Depp got to number 2 because he's different in every film, maybe?
It's good to see Brando up there at number one. However, one actor that even Brando considered great (and so do I)is the late James Cagney. He did everything, from song and dance to number one gangster. He was considered for The Godfather (comeback role)! I have a personally autographed Photo that he sent to me back in 1974!!

oooh, I watched it too, sorry disagree, Pacino and de Niro are both fab but anthony has that little 'je ne sais quoi'. you should rethink.
